The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards continues to be the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the U.S., and the largest source of scholarships or young artists and writers. Teens in grades 7 through 12, from public, private, or home schools, can apply in 28 categories of art and writing for their chance to earn scholarships and have their works exhibited or published. PTSA Reflections Program

PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2019-2020 theme:  TBA

To participate, contact your Local/State PTA for official program rules and deadlines.

Students may choose one or all of the available arts categories:

Dance Choreography
Film Production
Music Composition
Visual Arts
Visual Arts

Only original works of art are accepted. Check out the website for details and forms: I also have hard copies of forms available at school. DUE DATES TBA.

Google4Doodle In January look for Doodle 4 Google is an annual program that invites K-12 students in the United States to use their artistic talents to think big and redesign our homepage logo for millions to see.This year's theme "If I Could Invent One Thing to Make the World a Better Place...." Happy doodling!

The Washington State Fair Arts Exhibition

Washington State Fair online entry registration will be open beginning May 2: Jr/Sr High School Art Show registration information
Drop off is usually at the end of May for entries in the Fall and pick up at the end of September. Mounting/Framing of works assisted in the art room 104 upon request.

Art Club meets on Thursdays from 2:10 pm to 3:00 pm in the art room 104.

If you have any interest in playing with the arts or your creative potential check out ART CLUB. Projects have varied from painting backdrops for the wonderful plays put on by CJH students to individual explorations of water color techniques, bead making, watercolors, clay sculptures, and calligraphy.

Art is an expression of skill and imagination. Art provides opportunities for both independence and collaboration. Art improves academic achievement and helps exercise and develop thinking skills. If you have an interest and are willing to put in time, art is for you!
