Hello 8th Grade Families,

I hope this email finds you well!  I am excited to share another update regarding Curtis Junior High Athletics.  Because the Puget Sound Region is now in Phase 2 and the State Department of Health and Governor’s Office updated the recreational sports guidance we are now allowed to participate in a variety of activities. We have completed Cross Country, Track and Field and will finish Co-Ed Soccer next week.  We will be starting two new co-ed programs: volleyball and ultimate field sports (ultimate frisbee/spike ball) on Monday, February 22nd.  These programs will run until March 25th. These activities will start at 2:45pm and end by 4:15pm, Monday - Thursday.  Practice will be  2-4 times each week, depending on enrollment numbers.  We are excited to be able to offer these safe experiences that will nurture the physical and social/emotional health of our student-athletes.

Prior to participation, student-athletes must be cleared through our InTouch registration process.  This will include an athletic checklist, emergency form, current Sports Physical uploaded, and Covid-19 waiver.  ASB cards are not required at this time. If you have questions about registration, please contact Emilie Walsh-Stender at

Registration is open. Register under first time user or returning user.  Please DO NOT create an account and register as a guest user.  InTouch Registration Link

The safety of our student-athletes and coaches is our number one priority as we provide this opportunity. We have established strict safety protocols.  Face coverings will be worn correctly by all coaches and student-athletes at all times. Student-athletes are not to arrive on campus early and are expected to leave immediately following the activity.  As student-athletes come back on campus they will be expected to follow all safety protocols.  If you wish to view or discuss these safety protocols please contact me directly. Our coaches have been trained in the safety protocols and our student-athletes will be expected to follow them while on campus.

If your child will be participating and would need district transportation, please complete the Google Survey prior to February 18, 2021.

We are pleased to be offering this opportunity and believe we can do this safely as we all work together.  Please reach out to me at or 253-566-5710 X 2154 if you have any questions.
